Kapadia’s debut feature film has won several accolades, including the prestigious Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. This is the first Indian feature film to win the Grand Prix, and the first Indian contender to be nominated in a competitive category since Shaji N Karun’s Swaham in 1994. Kapadia is the first Indian female filmmaker to win a major award at Cannes.

In her film review, India Currents writer Monita Soni describes All We Imagine As Light as “a haunting, poetic portrayal of three women bound by the thread of isolation, yet finding brief moments of connection and joy as they navigate an unforgiving world.” The movie stars Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, and Chhaya Kadam in the lead.

All We Imagine As Light lost out to Kiran Rao’s Laapata Ladies as India’s official entry to the Oscars, but according to an Indian Express report, it may win nominations as an independent entry to the Academy Awards.

Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut presented the nominations for the Annual Golden Globes for 27 award categories in films and TV series. The awards ceremony will be aired on CBS and Stream on Paramount+ on January 5, 2025.

The Golden Globes are decided by a voting body made up of over 300 experienced entertainment journalists representing 85 countries.
