An investigative report has raised questions about popular British podcaster, author, and life coach Jay Shetty’s past. After speaking to multiple people who know Shetty, and closely examining his social media empire, journalist John McDermott published his findings in a piece for the Guardian on February 29.
Shetty is a self-styled life coach, and attributes his credentials to the years he spent living and working with monks in India. He followed up his first book Think Like A Monk with 8 Rules of Love, and is also the host of the immensely popular On Purpose podcast. He has interviewed eminent personalities from different fields and has millions of followers on social media.
However, the investigation reveals that Shetty spent less time in India with ISKCON monks than he claimed. Additionally, McDermott has alleged that Shetty plagiarized content from other people’s social media accounts for his own content, often without attribution. The report also raises questions about the Shetty’s life-coaching business called the Jay Shetty Certification School.
