On the evening of April 21, around 6:30 p.m., San Antonio police officers arrived at Cheviot Heights to investigate reports of an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. At the scene, they found a 51-year old woman who was severely injured after being struck intentionally with a car. The primary suspect was her roommate Sachin Sahoo, who had fled the scene.

The police officers transported the victim to a hospital for treatment and issued a felony arrest warrant for Sahoo. A few hours later, Sahoo returned to the scene, where he was confronted by police officers who tried to block him as he tried to escape in his car. While trying to escape, Sahoo struck two police officers with his car, after which another police officer, Tyler Turner opened fire and shot at him, killing him on the scene.

Sahoo’s ex-wife Leah Goldstein said that he was suffering from bipolar disorder and showed signs of schizophrenia. She also called him a ‘great dad’ to their nine-year old son, and described him as a ‘lovable and peaceful man’.
