India Currents gave me a voice in days I was very lost. Having my articles selected for publishing was very validating – Shailaja Dixit, Executive Director, Narika, Fremont

Aicon Gallery presents a solo exhibition of 15 sculptures created by Mayyur Kailash Gupta from Baroda, India. His latest body of work focuses on a part of the human body that is the focus of so many daily interactions—the human face and head. The heads have been carved with meticulous care, reminiscent of the care used in shaping divine idols. The expressions are arresting in the tranquility that they exude. The sculptures have been crafted using wood with a variety of metallic finishes. Gupta is a recipient of the Charles Wallace India Trust Award fellowship, and has exhibited widely in India. This is his first solo exhibition in the United States.
Showing Friday, June 13-Saturday, July 12. Opening reception on Friday, June 13, 6-9 p.m. Aicon gallery hours: Tue.-Sat. 11 a.m.-7 p.m. 535 Bryant St., Palo Alto. www.aicongallery.com
