SACHI and Asian Art Museum, San Francisco are honored to welcome Dr. Madhuvanti Ghose, Alsdorf Associate Curator of Indian, Southeast Asian and Himalayan Art, The Art Institute, Chicago .
Dr. Ghose will present Nilima Sheikh’s famed and significant series of works “Each Night Put Kashmir in Your Dreams”
In a series of artworks Nilima Sheikh weaved memories and histories with text into a visual language that speaks about an idyllic Kashmir.

Sheikh retells the many histories of Kashmir – each, a telling of Kashmir’s true identity as a cultural paradise. The sense of loss and pain, juxtaposed with Kashmir’s natural beauty, harmony & traditions is communicated expressively through these scrolls – almost as in a tapestry of shawls, evoking complex patterns & identities.
