Into The Streets 2026 Season

“Live on Larkin” Street Festival Series Launches May 9th
TL Comes Alive With AAPI Heritage Month Block Party & Taste of Tenderloin Foodie Program
Free May 9 celebration featuring music, fashion, K-Pop DJs, cultural performances, and family activities kicks off a full season of street events on Larkin Street
San Francisco, CA — A new neighborhood street event series is bringing music, culture, food, and family-friendly fun to the heart of the Tenderloin. Live on Larkin, a new series of free public street events activating Larkin Street throughout 2026, kicks off May 9, 2026 with the 5th Annual AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) Heritage Month Block Party — from 12 to 5 p.m. on Larkin Street between Eddy and O’Farrell Street.
The all-ages celebration will transform Larkin Street into a vibrant cultural gathering featuring live music, a fashion show, cultural performances, K-Pop DJ sets and karaoke, free kids’ activities, and more surprises. The event celebrates the Tenderloin’s deep Asian cultural roots while welcoming residents and visitors to experience one of San Francisco’s most diverse neighborhoods.
“The Tenderloin has always been a place where culture, community, and resilience come together and Live on Larkin brings that spirit out into the streets for everyone to experience. This series is about celebrating the neighborhood’s deep AAPI roots, supporting our small businesses, and creating safe, vibrant public spaces where families, residents, and visitors can connect. I’m proud to see this investment in the Tenderloin and excited to welcome the city to Larkin Street to experience everything this community has to offer,” said District Supervisor Bilal Mahmood.
“The Tenderloin is one of the most culturally rich neighborhoods in San Francisco, and AAPI Heritage Month is the perfect moment to celebrate the communities that have shaped this neighborhood for generations,” said Kate Robinson, CEO of the Tenderloin Community Benefit District. “Live on Larkin is about bringing people together in the streets—supporting local businesses, uplifting culture, and reminding the city that the Tenderloin is a place full of life, creativity, and incredible food.”
Attendees can look forward to A Taste of Tenderloin, a food experience featuring bites from beloved neighborhood restaurants, with featured samples from neighborhood favorites: Pho 2000, Saigon Sandwich, Lers Ros, and Son & Garden. Tickets are available for purchase online.
“San Francisco’s streets should be places of joy, culture, and connection,” said Katy Birnbaum, Founder and CEO of Into The Streets. “Live on Larkin is about creating a space where communities can celebrate who they are while supporting the small businesses and artists that make the Tenderloin so special. We’re thrilled to launch this series with an event that honors AAPI heritage and brings thousands of people together to experience the neighborhood.”
The event is presented by the Tenderloin Community Benefit District, Into The Streets, Tenderloin Merchants Association, and Tenderloin Eats, in partnership with Discover Tenderloin.
“The Tenderloin is home to so many incredible immigrant-owned and family-run businesses, and events like Live on Larkin help bring new customers and energy to the corridor,” said Renee Colorado of the Tenderloin Merchants Association. “When people come out for the music, performances, and food, they also discover the amazing restaurants and shops that make this neighborhood one of the most unique destinations in San Francisco.”
Celebrating Culture in the Tenderloin
The Tenderloin has long been one of San Francisco’s most vibrant Asian cultural crossroads, home to immigrant communities, family-owned restaurants, and historic institutions that have shaped the neighborhood’s identity for generations.
Live on Larkin aims to highlight that legacy while creating welcoming public spaces where families, neighbors, and visitors can gather to celebrate culture, support small businesses, and experience the energy of the neighborhood.
The event series is part of the Larkin Street Revival Project, a coordinated effort led by the Tenderloin Community Benefit District to reactivate the corridor through infrastructure improvements, expanded on-the-ground services, small business activation, and arts and cultural programming. The initiative includes a $5 million private investment from philanthropist Chris Larsen and brings together city leadership, community organizations, and neighborhood partners to strengthen the future of the corridor.
