Join us for a vibrant exposition of the resilience, power, and creativity of women through the lens of 6 different dance forms from the subcontinent. The title is a play on the concept of creative action that resides in all women, as demonstrated through dance. The program is a nuanced approach to the traditional dance Margam, with regional dances replacing the usual pieces in a Bharatanatyam repertoire, performed by bay area dancers: Rasmitha Milin Nair ( Kuchipudi), Ganga Nair (Mohiniattam), Snigdha Das, Minnie Pant & Swarna Byri (Folk), Sharanya Padmanabhan (Kathak), Niveditha Ravishankar (Odissi) and Maya Manoharan ( Bharatanatyam). All proceeds will go to Maitri, an organization that empowers South Asian survivors of domestic violence, in the Bay Area.
