A tribute to legendary Bharatanatyam maestro Padma Bhushan Prof. C.V. Chandrasekhar will take place at De Anza College’s Visual and Performing Arts Center on September 13, 2025. “Ananta – The Legend Lives On” will be a Bharatanatyam performance by Jyotsna Vaidee and Samudra Dance Creations that celebrates the renowned dancer’s legacy.
The evening will feature a dance production showcasing Prof. Chandrasekhar’s original compositions, accompanied by a live orchestra featuring Indian Classical musicians. The Samudra ensemble, along with youth performers, will present multiple choreographic works that honor the guru’s profound contribution to classical Indian dance.
This special event is not just a performance, but also a fundraiser for Remalaya, a non-profit organization founded by Renu Empranthiri and Manoje Pandalam. The production highlights the traditional Guru Shishya Parampara (teacher-student relationship) that is central to Indian performing arts.
Jyotsna Vaidee, an award-winning Bharatanatyam choreographer and the event’s artistic director, is a senior disciple of Prof. Chandrasekhar. Her organization Samudra Dance Creations has participated in and organized many critically acclaimed performances across North America.
The performance will take place on September 13, 2025, at 5:30 PM at De Anza College’s Visual and Performing Arts Center in Cupertino. Book your tickets here.
