On October 26, the Vishwa Shanthi Dance Academy (VSDA) will celebrate its 25th anniversary through a special performance titled ‘Infinite Facets – An Exploration of the Self’. Guru Smt. Shreelata Suresh has choreographed the Bharatanatyam performance, which will take place at the Menlo Atherton Performing Arts Center in Atherton at 3:30 pm, and again at 6:30 pm on the same day.
Infinite Facets explores the philosophical concepts of supreme force, creative feminine energy, the trinity, the five elements of nature, and the juxtaposition of the singularity of self and the multiplicity of the universe. The dance ballet weaves together pure rhythmic dance, traditional musicianship, story-telling, extravagant costumes, and evocative expressions, complemented by clear English explanations.
