
In a solemn function at the Consulate General of India, San Francisco, a portrait of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was unveiled on August14th, 2014. Many community members, including Mr. Ashok Bhaura and Mr. Jessie Banga, Chairman, Guru Ravidas Temple, Rio Linda, participated in the event.
While addressing the gathering, Consul General Mr. N. Parthasarathi, conveyed greetings of Independence Day of India. He said that on the eve of India’s Independence Day it is a great pleasure to honour to unveil the portrait of Dr. Ambedkar at the event. He recalled the significant contribution made by Dr. Ambedkar for a democratic India. Dr. Ambedkar was an economist, a jurist, a lawmaker and a social reformer. He was also the principal architect of Constitution of India due to which we all enjoy liberty and freedom. India is the largest functioning democracy in the world because of the great work done by our leaders, he added.
Many of the community members thanked the Consulate for unveiling portrait of Dr. Ambedkar and appreciated the work being done by the Consulate in promoting goodwill and trust among the community.
