UCLA Engineering Professor Killed For Allegedly Taking Student’s Code

The gunman, Mainak Sarkar, 38, had a Ph.D. in solid mechanics from UCLA. A Minnesota resident, Sarkar killed UCLA professor William Klug before committing suicide on campus. He had accused the professor in March 2016 of stealing his computer code and giving it to someone else, according to the police.

Sarkar shot Klug multiple times in a small office in UCLA Engineering Building 4 before taking his own life.
