Bringing opportunity to our community’s doorstep, the Taarika Foundation hosted a dynamic career fair on Sunday, March 2nd. Taarika Foundation, founded and led by Dr. Leena Khanzode, is a non-profit organization that raises awareness, promotes youth mental health, and destigmatizes mental health. 

Today’s teens are very stressed and anxious about their future, finding the right career path, and the college admission process. Taarika Foundation organized this career fair to alleviate their and their parents’ anxiety, and to give them hope and options for their future career. This career fair provided a rare and exciting opportunity for youth and their parents to explore different careers, meet with various professionals, learn about the necessary skills, get advice on many career paths to get a jumpstart on their future.

This event featured professionals from diverse fields including doctors, medical assistants, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, physical therapists, pharmacists, psychologists, neuropsychologists, marriage and family therapists, licensed clinical social workers, dentists, EMTs, to financial advisors, artists, and teachers. Over 40 representatives and over 100 participants took part in the event.

Each table was staffed by professionals eager to share insights into their respective industries, allowing students to ask questions, seek advice, and learn about potential career paths. Attendees had the chance to speak directly with the experts, gaining valuable knowledge and making connections that could shape their future careers. The event provided a relaxed yet engaging atmosphere, where students could explore a wide range of professions and find the guidance they need to take the next step in their journey.

Neysa Filgor, the Vice Mayor of Las Altos lent her support for Taarika Foundation’s mission. saying, “When she [Dr. Khanzode] reached out and mentioned this event, neither of us had heard of such an event before,” said Ms. Filgor. “And so one of us knew we had to be here”. Ms. Fligor also drew the raffle ticket winners and gave them a gift of Taarika Foundation merchandise prizes as a token of appreciation.

Taarika Foundation’s Founder – Dr. Leena Khanzode, a child and adolescent psychiatrist, thanked her team of volunteers and career fair members for helping organize the event to support the community.“It truly takes a village to raise happy and successful kids,” she said.

Taarika Foundation’s first ever career fair successfully brought together representatives from various fields who created long-term connections with each other and the families who received real-life advice from top professionals.
