Smoking Marijuana is Okay, says Dr. Sanjay Gupta

Dr Sanjay Gupta, a trauma neurosurgeon and journalist, put his weight behind use of marijuana as an alternative to deadly pain medications. “Marijuana could greatly reduce the demand for narcotics and simultaneously decrease the number of accidental painkiller overdoses, which are the greatest cause of preventable death in this country,” says Dr. Gupta. “America has been systematically misled about cannabis and the nation needs a “medical marijuana revolution.”

April 20th was a defacto cannabis holiday. In a CNN documentary aired on the eve of the informal April 20 holiday  “Weed 3: The Marijuana Revolution,” CNN chief medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta asked President Obama if he supports Senate-level efforts to officially end the federal war on medical marijuana.US president Barack Obama reiterated his support for medicinal use of marijuana and moving towards decriminalization of the drug.
