Sitar virtuoso Ashwin Batish will headline New Year’s Eve celebrations at the 418 Project, a community theater in downtown Santa Cruz. The event titled Gathering in Gratitude 2025 will feature several music, dance, and art acts, inducing Batish’s Sitar Power, a fusion of classical Indian music and Western beats. This headlining performance marks Batish’s return to the stage after a five-year hiatus.
The ensemble will also feature Batish’s son Keshav Batish (drums, tabla, sitar), his sister Meena Batish (vocals and kanjira), Myron Dove (bass), Murray Low (keyboards), Kristen Strom (saxophone), and Jim Greiner (percussion). Batish’s daughters Mohini, Neha, and Uma Batish will join as backing vocalists.
