The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it will not be conducting a third lottery for H-1B visa applicants for the ongoing financial year ending in September 2024. The government agency said that it has already selected 85,000 applications to meet the quota, from the two previous lotteries conducted in March and August this year.
The USCIS received a record 758,994 H-1B applications this year, for a total of 85,000 visas. More than 100,000 applications were selected in the first lottery, and more than 77,000 in the second lottery. The number of applications selected in each lottery are more than the quota, to account for rejections and revocations.Â
Now, the USCIS has announced that it has met the quota of 85,000 and will not be conducting a third lottery to the disappointment of H-1B aspirants who were hoping for another chance at being picked. Read more here.
