On May 11, the Association of Indo-Americans (AIA) organized the Maya Bazaar, a handicraft expo showcasing handicrafts from over twenty Indian states, in San Ramon. The City of San Ramon, the Consulate General of India in San Francisco, and the Bolly FM 92.3 radio station collaborated with AIA to bring this event to fruition. Other sponsors included NBC BayArea, Onshore Kare, ICICI bank, Astrologer Vishnu, and Tanishq Jewelers.

More than seventy vendors displayed and sold their products at the all-day expo which was held at Bishop Ranch. Food stalls, children’s entertainment, and traditional Indian dances were some of the other attractions at the expo. 

Other dignitaries who attended the event include Mayor Dave Hudson (SanRamon); Councilmembers Mark Armstrong, Sridhar Verose (San Ramon); Councilmember Jean Josey (Dublin); Caroline Francois from the Office of Congressman DeSaulnier (CA-10); Karishma Khatri from the Office of Assemblymember Liz Ortega (AD 20); Harry Dhillon from the Mountain House Community Services District; Donna Browne from the Office of Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan (AD-16); and Heidi Kenniston-Lee, President of the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce.
