On Saturday, December 14, the Khalsa Care Foundation (KCF) Gurudwara organized a donation drive and distributed food and toys to families from underserved communities in Los Angeles.
Volunteers assembled boxes of food, toys, soccer balls, and other items and handed them out to members of the community who lined up around the block around noon. Law enforcement officers ensured that order was maintained and the donation drive went through without a hitch.
The KCF Sikh Gurdwara served vegetarian food and drink for the volunteers or anyone needing sustenance during the donation drive. People who waited in line either on foot or in cars were given tokens and every twenty-fifth token was for a golden ticket which could be for a child’s bicycle or large toy.
Volunteers estimate that hundreds of pedestrians and cars drove through the gates of the KCF Sikh Gurudwara and benefited from the initiative.
