Filmmaker Mukesh Modi hosted the Indie Film Festival Awards (IFFA), a celebration of independent cinema from June 2-5, 2025, in New York City. The festival featured 52 films from 20 countries, providing a platform for emerging and established independent filmmakers to showcase their creative work.
The four-day event took place at two different venues: the Quad Cinema for film screenings and the Frederick P. Rose Auditorium for the prestigious award ceremony. With 115 submissions received from around the globe, IFFA selected over 50 films for theatrical presentation, highlighting the festival’s commitment to discovering and promoting diverse cinematic voices.
Notable attendees include New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Indian Consul General Binay C. Pradhan, and actors Amir Arison and Lulu Lopez.
Modi, a Dadasaheb Phalke Award recipient, founded IFFA to address the challenges independent filmmakers face in accessing distribution channels and gaining global recognition.
