On August 24, the Indian Association of Sacramento (IAS) celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day in California’s state capital. The day-long celebrations included seminars, cultural events, and performances at the Hiram Johnson High School Theater.
Three seminars titled “College Seminar”; “Curbing Anti-Bias & Cultivating Safety of Local Indian Diaspora”; and “Impact of Social Media on Emotional and Physical Health” were followed by musical and dance performances showcasing Indian traditions.
Padma Shri Awardee Nazma Akthar, Congressman Dr. Ami Bera, Roseville Mayor, Bruce Houdesheldt and Mayor of Elk Grove City, Bobbie Singh-Allen were some guests of honor at the celebrations.
