When disasters strike, the chaos that follows often stems not from failed technology but from a simpler yet more critical problem: community organizations don’t know where to turn for reliable information. This communication breakdown can leave nonprofits, faith communities, and local businesses scrambling to understand how they can help or where they can find the resources they need.
CADRE, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to serving Santa Clara County communities before, during, and after disasters, is addressing this challenge with a series of free Community Support Network information sessions. Running weekly through July 30th, these hour-long Zoom sessions are designed specifically for the diverse array of organizations.
The program covers a range of areas, reflecting the needs of the county’s communities. Topics include access and functional needs, advocacy and equity, animal welfare, business continuity, climate and sustainability issues, emergency communications, donation coordination, employment resources, faith-based response, food security, housing assistance, immigrant services, mass care operations, mental and behavioral health support, community health initiatives, senior services, transportation, services for the unhoused, veteran support, volunteer coordination, and youth programs.
Registration is required in advance, and interested organizations can sign up here to receive their Zoom link. For questions, CADRE can be reached at 408-722-1210.
