Silicon Valley Reads 2024: A Greener Tomorrow Starts Today
Community Reading Engagement Program Kicks Off with Featured Authors & Contributors
Silicon Valley Reads will celebrate community and reading centered on the 2024 theme, A Greener Tomorrow Starts Today during its kickoff event next week. This year’s program focuses on environmental sustainability with a selection of books and free programs that explore the challenges and opportunities of creating a more sustainable future.
This year’s featured books are All We Can Save, an anthology with more than 60 essays and poems with contributions from Favianna Rodriguez and Alexandria Villasenor, One Green Thing by Heather White, and The Light Pirate by Lily Brooks-Dalton.
The 2024 season will kick off with the featured authors and contributors to this year’s selected books in a conversation moderated by NBC Bay Area reporter Damian Trujillo at the Visual Performing Arts Center (VPAC) at De Anza College.
Books will be available for purchase, and there will be an opportunity for book signing after the program. Attendees are encouraged to visit the Euphrat Museum of Art adjacent to the VPAC for “Sacred Terrain,” an exhibition focused on the beauty and healing power of the natural world that features works by Bay Area artists. The exhibition will be open before and after the kickoff event.
