Hamid Daudani and group are busy rehearsing their new musical, Dancing on the Moon, a Hindi/Urdu play with a number of dances performed by 35-40 artists. Young generation choreographers of the Bollywood Tranz, a local popular dance group, are creating spectacular dances to match the plot. Kalpesh Rathod, Lekha Motiwala, and Meghna Mehta are the backbone of this dance group.

The play boasts a powerful storyline with a love triangle. Aamir, the producer and director of a mega production auditions a number of artists for his next venture. He wants to look deeper in each artist’s life beyond his or her dance credentials. He encounters amazing and startling details in the candidates’ lives. Aashi, Aamir’s ex-love, unexpectedly shows up to audition for a role in the production. The rest of the saga unfolds on the stage.

“I was thrilled with the response we got from the San Diego artists who came in for the audition in a huge number,” says Daudani, the director and writer of the theater piece. “More and more new people now come forward to participate as our reputation grows.”

Sets are being designed by the Technical Director Nipul Shah.
Dancing on the Moon is the Daudani Group’s 17th production.
