In April, which is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the County of Santa Clara is urging community members to stay alert and report incidents of child abuse. Highlighting the people’s crucial role in supporting the county’s efforts to fight this evil, the County encourages everyone to report child abuse and neglect at the County’s 24/7 hotline: 1 (833) SCC–KIDS.

The County’s Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS) initiated the hotline in 2018, and the Child Abuse and Neglect Center (CANC) is responsible for screening the calls. The County will also host a flag-raising and proclamation reading by the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, April 9 at 9:30 a.m. at the James P. McEntee Plaza located in the main courtyard at 70 W. Hedding St., in San José.

“If you notice or suspect a case of child abuse or neglect, please call the hotline,” said Supervisor Sylvia Arenas. “Just as we often say it takes a village to raise a child, it certainly takes a village to protect our children.”

Report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect, call 1 (833) SCC–KIDS or 1 (833) 722-5437.  To learn more about the impact of child abuse in Santa Clara County, click here
