India Currents is looking for freelance writers for exciting editorial opportunities.  We are interested in a variety of subjects – politics, economics, history, business, technology, travel, entertainment and the arts. If any of these interest you, contact us!

We are also inviting submissions for our Annual Fiction Contest – Katha. This year, we have an exciting partnership with Wellstone Books. We are asking writers to adhere to a theme of “California Fiction.” One or more winners of this year’s contest will be published in a book later this year by Wellstone Books, an arm of the Wellstone Center in the Redwoods. Contest rules are given here.

India Currents is about to celebrate it’s 30th anniversary in April of this year. We are proud of our service to the community and we are looking to grow even further with the inclusion  of new voices and perspectives. Every month we reach over 200,000 readers across the United States through our print and digital editions.

Contact the Managing Editor Ms. Nirupama Vaidhyanathan for more details.

…You Are Our Business Model!

More people are reading India Currents than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. And unlike many news organizations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Our independent, community journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as $5, you can support us – and it takes just a moment to give via PayPal or credit card.
