The Association of Indo-Americans held AIA Swades, a celebration of India’s Independence Day at Discovery Meadow Park in San Jose, Calif. on Aug. 12, 2023. Partnering with Bollywood 92.3 FM and the Consulate General of India, San Francisco, this day-long celebration was the first time the event had been held in San Jose.
The Association of Indo-Americans received commendations from the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, the City of Cupertino, the City of Santa Clara, the City of Milpitas, and the City of Fremont.
Dr. T.V. Nagendra Prasad, the Consul General of India at San Francisco who is leaving to become Ambassador to Kazakhstan, served as the chief guest. Popular American YouTuber and singer Vidya Vox headlined the event which also included a brief performance by Bollywood actor/singer Kanishka Soni.
