The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) announced that applications for the Atal Bihari Vajpayee General Scholarship Scheme (A120l) for the 2025-26 academic year are open at its A2A Scholarship Portal starting February 20.

The scholarship program offers international students the opportunity to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD studies at 131 Indian universities and institutes. The last date to apply is April 30, 2025.

The ICCR will attempt to place students in their preferred institutions, but students may be offered admission to any of their five chosen options due to limited seat availability. Applicants between 18 and 40 years old as of July 1, 2025, are eligible for the scholarship for undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The age limit is 50 years old for PhD programs.

The scholarship does not cover medical, paramedical, fashion, law, or integrated courses like B.A.-L.L.B. and B.Sc.-M.Sc. Students pursuing science courses will be responsible for laboratory and other incidental charges.

Applicants must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria for their chosen course and submit all required documentation in addition to the basic certificates listed in the application form. Selected students will be required to obtain medical insurance with a minimum coverage of Rs. 5 lakhs per annum.

The ICCR will announce the admission decisions by May 31, 2025. Indian Missions abroad will then issue offer letters to confirmed students by June 15, 2025. Students must accept their offers by June 22, 2025.
