Project Umeed, a digital literacy and education initiative has been launched in rural India. The million-dollar project is a collaboration between Teach for Life, India Development and Relief Fund (IDRF), Guru Krupa Foundation, and the Sehgal Foundation and the SM Sehgal Foundation will implement the project on the ground in India.

Among the main features of this project are the establishment of fully equipped digital libraries, rural India, digital literacy skills training, and community engagement around the subjects of education and sustainability in rural India. 

The stated objective of this collaboration is to democratize access to knowledge and impart technology-based training to rural communities. The states of Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Telangana have been selected as part of this project. 

The organizers have already raised $900,000, and are accepting donations from interested individuals and organizations, to meet their goal of a million dollars.
