The Kerala Story, a 2023 film directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah will be released on ZEE5 Global on February 16, 2024. The online streaming platform has secured the digital rights of the 2023 box office hit starring Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani and Siddhi Idnani in the lead roles.
The film is set in the south Indian state of Kerala and follows the lives of four young girls who are radicalized, and convert to Islam. The second half of the film follows their journey after being recruited by a terrorist organization.
The film attracted a lot of attention in the media, and while the film was successful at the box office, some – including Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan – criticized the film as a propaganda film that stoked communal sentiments and vilified Muslims.
