Director Jagat Joon won the Best Director award for the short film 2 Khet (Two Farms), at the South Asian International Film Festival of Florida (SAIFFF), held in Tampa from February 21-23. Atlanta-based Indian-American Sanjay Arora is the Executive Producer of the film. The film is set in India and tells the story of two brothers whose lives take an unexpected turn when a property dealer offers them an offer that sounds too good to be true.Â
This is not the first time Joon and Arora’s director-producer duo has collaborated. In October 2024, their short film Once Upon a Time in Lahore won the Best Film and Best Actor in a Short Film awards at the India International Film Festival of Boston.
Having directed films like Butterfly Wings, Once Again, and Expression, Arora is now working on his feature film titled Vapsi. The film, which is in pre-production, will tell the story of aging parents living alone in India while their only son resides abroad.
Another of Arora’s projects, You Are Early, a collaboration with a Singaporean production house featuring a cast of Singaporean actors, was also screened at the SAIFFF.
