Ohio businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, who was making a bid for the Republican Presidential nomination in the 2024 elections suspended his campaign on January 15. The decision to quit came after he finished fourth in Iowa’s leadoff caucuses, behind Donald Trump, Gov. Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley. Upon ending his own bid for the nomination, Ramaswamy endorsed third-time Presidential hopeful Donald Trump.

The biotech entrepreneur of Indian heritage, entered the campaign as the youngest candidate at 38 years old, and built his campaign from his personal wealth. A successful businessman and author, he is vocal about his stance against woke culture and has made calls to reduce the United States’ involvement in foreign affairs. He has also supported conspiracy theories about the January 6th Capitol riot and the 9/11 attacks.

After dropping out of the race, Ramaswamy appeared at Trump’s campaign rally in New Hampshire and endorsed the former President. Trump also praised Ramaswamy and said to the audience, “He’s going to be working with us for a long time”. That statement, coupled with the crowd’s chants of “VP”, has sparked speculation about him being Trump’s running mate in the 2024 election.
