Sankara Eye Foundation, USA Gears Up For Its Annual Dandia Extravaganza

Over 6,500 people expected to attend one of the biggest garba events in the Bay Area this weekend: Santa Clara and Plesanton.

Sankara Eye Foundation (SEF), USA is gearing up to host its flagship event, the annual SEF Dandia Extravaganza, one of the biggest in Northern California this weekend. Over 6,500 people are expected to attend SEF-USA’s grand dandia event at two locations – at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara, on October 5th and at the Amador Valley High School, Pleasanton, on October 6th.

Live Music by Preetysha and Sameer

Dandia attendees can dance to live music by Preetysha and Sameer and participate in the divine Mataji ki Aarti with diyas provided by SEF. Sonal Solanki, SEF, USA Executive Committee member said, “It is a beautiful and divine experience. We sing the aarti in unison, with the ‘diya” in the palm of our hands, signifying how, together, each one of us is helping bring the Magic of Light into the lives of those needlessly blind.” Dandia sticks are available for purchase and volunteers are at hand to teach the garba to those who don’t know the steps. There also is a special cordoned-off safe section for children with adult volunteer supervision so parents, children, and entire families can enjoy an evening dancing the garba.

Dandia with a cause: to give the Gift of Vision

Since its inception in 1998, SEF, USA has performed more than 3.4 million free surgeries. It is making rapid strides towards Vision 2030: March to a Million to provide one million free eye surgeries annually to underserved communities in India and beyond by 2030.
