On October 6, Bay Area-based nonprofit Indians for Collective Action (ICA) which serves marginalized communities in India, held its annual event in Palo Alto. Around 250 guests attended the event, the theme of which was “Transforming to a Healthier World”.
Guest speakers Ashish and Kavita Satav spoke about their efforts to provide healthcare to marginalized communities in India through their organization, the Mahan Trust. Consul-General K. Srikar Reddy delivered a keynote address, while entrepreneur and philanthropist Michal Moritz engaged in a fireside chat about his nonprofit Crankstart which works for underserved communities in San Francisco. A panel discussion moderated by ICA Marketing Head Namita Maunder highlighted the importance of mental health in AI, medicine, and family therapy.
At the event, ICA President Prakash Agarwal announced a $10 million fund to further the organization’s mission of providing humanitarian aid and empowering communities in India. Additionally, the organization raises $150,000 during the course of the evening.
