The Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI) successfully hosted a comprehensive Back-to-School Health Fair that transformed the AACI Community Health Center – Moorpark parking lot into a hub for community wellness. The event drew a crowd of over 1,000 participants, who accessed free health services, school supplies, and enjoyed cultural performances for local families.

More than 40 resource booths were available at the fair providing community information and free physical and dental screenings were conducted for children. More than 550 backpacks were distributed to students and more than 60 children received free haircuts by Urban Barber College.

India Currents was a media sponsor for the event. “It was great to see the number of attendees, the intrigued and curious kids, the diverse cultural performances and the activities the other organizations offered on their booths to make it a truly engaging time for everyone,” said Audience Engagement Editor Prachi Singh. “Not to mention it was a good opportunity to spread the word about India Currents to all.”

The fair also celebrated local leadership, presenting the Gordon N. Chan Leadership Award to Assemblymember Patrick Ahrens and the Community Champion Award to Amigos de Guadalupe Center for Justice and Empowerment.

Cultural performances by Hui Ilima Dancers, Viet Steps, M Team Taekwondo, and Grito de la Cultura Dance Academy provided entertainment, highlighting the diverse community served.
