SUMMARY:SAAPRI's Women's Health Series: Elderly Care Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the fourth and final installment of our Women’s Health Series as we explore the topic of Elderly Care. As South Asian populations age\, caregiving for elderly family members has become more complex\, especially with conditions like dementia and Alzheimer’s. \nCaregivers face challenges such as language barriers\, lack of culturally sensitive healthcare\, and mental health stigma\, often bearing emotional and financial strain without enough support. Balancing traditional family roles with modern healthcare demands is difficult\, and many caregivers feel isolated. Raising awareness about dementia\, providing culturally relevant resources\, and supporting caregivers with education and healthcare access can improve care for both elderly individuals and their families. \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:The Art of Cosmopolitanism in Premodern Kerala
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to have Dr. Arati Menon present on a topic that previously has not been explored by SAAC – the art and architecture of Kerala. \nSince antiquity\, Kerala on the Malabar Coast of southwestern India has served as a beacon for merchant ships. A confluence of factors\, including Kerala’s fortuitous position in the Indian Ocean mercantile network\, abundant export of spices\, and partnerships rooted in diplomacy and trade\, engendered a regional milieux of multicultural cosmopolitanism and a shared artistic vocabulary across religions. This talk examines architectural and sculptural similitude in Kerala’s premodern churches\, mosques\, synagogues\, and temples\, the agency of local artisans\, and the roles played by rulers\, merchants\, and religious leaders to present a history of art and cosmopolitanism on the Malabar Coast \nLook forward to seeing you virtually at the event. \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Become a Screenwriter or an Actor! Join Us for: A Little Princess
DESCRIPTION:Create a whole new play! \nEveryone is invited to our 2024 Conservatory which will be presenting “A Little Princess”. \nThis show is for all genders and expressions of gender. While the original story centers around girls\, there are male characters and there can be more. EnActe conservatory is about reimaging this classic. Last time we focused on a male dominated story by a male author. During that process\, many male characters became girls or were embodied by female actors.  This reimagination can be similar\, instead of an all girls school\, maybe it’s a boarding school. The possibilities are endless for our student populous! \nThe conservatory will run from February 26 to May 30\, 2024\, followed by production which will end with the final performance in December 2024. \n\n\n	Related
