DESCRIPTION:Join the SJSU King Library for a special exhibit to celebrate the musical traditions and sounds of instruments from South Asian countries — Afghanistan\, Bangladesh\, Bhutan\, India\, Nepal\, Pakistan\, and Sri Lanka. \nDiscover many South Asian instruments like the ‘rabab/rubab’ from Afghanistan and its close relative\, the ‘sarod’ of India. Many of these instruments are taught and performed by the South Asian diaspora in Silicon Valley. \nIn celebration of the Sounds of South Asian exhibit\, join the SJSU King Library for a special music event and  hear from local musicians as they demonstrate vocal and instrumental music traditions. \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Photo Exhibition: South Asians in Silicon Valley
DESCRIPTION:From artists to engineers\, South Asians are making incredible contributions to Silicon Valley. The South Asians in Silicon Valley program’s goal is to record the South Asian experience\, share it with our Bay Area communities\, preserve these rich histories for generations to come\, and most importantly\, give South Asians a sense of belonging at San José State University and beyond. \nIn April and May 2024\, project organizers will host an exhibit and symposium that will showcase the experiences and contributions of South Asians in the area. Artifacts selected by and collected from community members will demonstrate\, teach and highlight their rich legacies.
