Brothers Vivek and Kamal Sharma found Puran, the Manager of Bay Area’s KGS Band in early 2016. Until then, the East-Coast natives had unsuccessfully searched to find a wedding vendor that would take Vivek’s upcoming wedding from run-of-the-mill to a truly once in a lifetime experience.

Younger brother Kamal explained over the phone that he had taken it upon himself to ensure his brother would have an amazing Desi Wedding that was not simply lavish but that would elegantly celebrate tradition, honor Indian culture, and of course be a lot of fun.

The Sharma family said they felt comfortable knowing that the KGS team’s Manager Puran Singh also performs Dhol and Drumset in the group and is the son of well-known Bay Area Tabla artist, Lakhwinder “Kukoo” G. Singh.

They were impressed how Puran listened to all of their different ideas and immediately began drafting a proposal that would satisfy both brothers’ visions while balancing their parents’ desire for a traditional and flavorful North Indian Wedding.

After many phone conversations, email exchanges, and in-person meetings they arrived at a 2 Day Shahi Package which encompassed the Sangeet, Barat, and Wedding Ceremony.

Kamal stated via Yelp that, “To put it simply, Puran and his team were fantastic! We used their services for 3 events during my brother’s wedding in Pleasanton: live band and DJ for the sangeet, band for the baraat, and live music for the Indian wedding ceremony. The sangeet wound up being an epic night.

Our guests didn’t want to stop dancing! The band sang some popular Indian wedding songs, while the DJ played really upbeat bhangra (and even mixed in some hip-hop classics). A dhol player accompanied both sets, and he was absolutely awesome! Similarly, the baraat was so great that the bride’s family joined in on the dancing. And during the wedding ceremony, Puran and his dad played the sitar and tabla, which mesmerized the audience.

Puran’s charges were very reasonable especially for the number of services that he provided. We didn’t even negotiate. More importantly, though, Puran was willing to work with us throughout the entire process. He answered every single question and accommodated our many requests.

He met with us several times to discuss logistics. This wasn’t part of the contract – he did it because he wanted to ensure a truly memorable experience. And he absolutely did! Guests have told us that the wedding was the best that they had ever been to. A main reason for that was Puran and his team.”
