India Currents is a community media platform devoted to the exploration of the heritage and culture of India for the diaspora. It covers a wide range of subjects — heritage arts, Bollywood, literature, travel, food, health and wellness — that are of interest to the Indian immigrant.
The premise on which India Currents is founded is simple: that readers of all backgrounds are interested in learning about other world cultures and that they respond to information that is presented to them in an accessible and attractive manner.
India Currents has published a print magazine from April 1987 to Dec 2017. Fully digital today, it has the largest following among Indian media in the United States. Through the various digital platforms and social media, we reach 150,000 readers every month.
India Currents is supported by the India Currents Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) non profit entity, that advocates for and elevates the voices of a minority community into the national discourse. Tax ID:83-3257703.
India Currents Foundation has received funding from Facebook Journalism Project, The United Way, Silicon Valley Community Foundation, Ethnic Media Services, and USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism.
IC Foundation is a member of Institute of Nonprofit News (INN) since 2020.
