In this performance\, Amit’s expressive improvisations and Skanda’s dynamic rhythmic artistry come together in perfect balance — at once meditative and exhilarating. \nWhether you are a connoisseur of classical traditions or discovering them for the first time\, Strings of Serenity offers an intimate and transformative experience that celebrates the essence of Indian music — its spirituality\, spontaneity\, and connection to the natural rhythms of life. \nAmit Gud – Sarod \nAmit got initiated to Indian classical music at an early age. He learned Tabla from various gurus in Pune and most recently with Arshad Syed ji (disciple of Ustad Alla Rakha) in California. Amit also studied nylon string guitar from Stanford professor Charles Fergusson. \nIn 2014\, Amit embarked on a new musical journey by studying the Sarod under the tutelage of two great masters – Shri Bruce Hamm\, a disciple of the revered Ustad Ali Akbar Khan\, and Shri Abhisek Lahiri\, a disciple of the renowned Shri Alok Lahiri. The Sarod’s unique tone and versatility captivated Amit\, and he has been passionately exploring the instrument’s intricacies ever since. \nAmit’s performances are characterized by his masterful command of rhythm\, his deep emotional connection to the music\, and his ability to evoke the essence of traditional ragas. Over the past 15 years\, Skanda has grown into an avid performer of the percussion instrument with solos and group ensembles and accompaniment to his credit. Skanda is now under the rigorous training and tutelage of Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri at the Ali Akbar College of Music.

DESCRIPTION:Steve Oda\nSteve Oda began his musical education at the age of seven\, learning to play slide guitar and then jazz guitar. His love for music eventually led him to the classical music of North India and the sarode\, learning first in 1970 with Aashish Khan and then in 1973\, with Aashish’s father\, the legendary late Maestro Ali Akbar Khansahib.\nSteve moved to the Bay area in 1996 to pursue intensive studies under Khansahib as both disciple and director of his music college. He has been blessed to perform internationally and currently resides in San Rafael\, actively teaching and performing.\nTanmay Bichu\nTanmay Bichu began learning tabla since the age of 6\, and has learned from stalwarts like Shree Manohar Pimpalaskar\, Pt. Ramdas Palsule\, Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri and Ustad Zakir Hussain. He actively performs in various Indian Classical and World Music concerts in India and the US. \nFor More Information
