DESCRIPTION:Dear Reader\, \nWe’re inviting you to take part in our Summer Fundraising campaign\, which kicks off today. \nAs an independent news organization\, India Currents is empowered to produce community-focused stories — thanks to the support of our readers. \nI’m pleased to share that this year we marked our 35th anniversary! And we were recognized with the 2022 Leadership in Media Award from the California State Legislature.\nWith your support\, we continue to produce award-winning stories! We won three awards for excellence in journalism from the California News Publishers Association\, for investigative stories on the impact of domestic violence\, the attempt to recall California Governor Gavin Newsom\, and continuing coverage of the Covid-19 pandemic. Five articles by journalists Meera Kymal\, Anjana Nagarajan Butaney\, Ritu Marwah\, and Mona Shah won awards in various categories. \nWe’re excited to continue this important work throughout the second half of 2022.
