Join our friends at Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) in welcoming Environmentalist, Feminist and Organic Farming Advocate Dr. Vandana Shiva for a talk at 8 P.M. Tuesday, February 12 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts.
Dr. Vandana Shiva is an advocate of a more equitable and sustainable food system that uses indigenous knowledge and a wide array of crops. She sees a return to natural and organic methods of farming as a solution for both food insecurity and climate change. As a founder of the Navdanya Initiative, she has established seed banks and programs in India to teach farmers organic techniques. She will be speaking about the intersections between feminism and environmental movements in India and throughout the world.
Peninsula Open Space Trust protects open space on the Peninsula and in the South Bay for the benefit of all. Since their founding in 1977, they have protected 76,000 acres in San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz Counties, much of which is now part of our public park system.
