Jayanthi is a disciple of guru Padmashri Shri Adyar K. Lakshman Nurtured under his tutlege, in the Kalakshetra tradition, Jayanthi is a dedicated dancer committed to perfection and grace. Jayanthi has toured throughout the world, performing and conducting lecture demonstrations on the art of Bharatanatyam. Her performances have won press and public acclaim not only as a solo dancer, but also as a choreographer & a director. She has also received extensive training in Nattuvangam. Bharathakala Kutiram, an academy for Bharathanatyam , was founded in the bay area by its artistic director, Jayanthi Sridharan, in 1992. The school is located in North San Jose and is committed to excellence in the art of, Bharatanatyam. Jayanthi is a dedicated and inspiring teacher. The school has been a part of all community events in the bay area and has earned a reputation for excellent rendition and coordinated presentation. Bharathakala Kutiram has presented some of its major productions Samarpanam, Nala Damayanthi and Maitreem Bhajatha around North America and India

Tarangini School of Kathak Dance

School of Kathak Dance was established by the talented Anuradha Nag in 1992. The name was coined by the illustrious doyen of Kathak, Padmavibhushan Pt. Birju Maharaj. Tarangini aims to contribute to the training of current & future generations in the field of Kathak and keeping them informed about the rich cultural heritage of India. Based in San Jose, CA, Tarangini School of Kathak Dance strives to achieve its mission, as follows:

Our Mission

Teaching and promoting the knowledge and awareness of the North Indian classical dance form known as Kathak.
Creating international interest in the community through multicultural stage and television programs for various organizations and educational institutions.
Providing learning opportunities for talented and /or low- income students through free tuition.
Sponsoring visiting dancers and accompanying musicians through performances and workshops (artist in resident programs) to preserve and expose the heritage of the dance form.
To give the students self confidence, exposure through stage appearances and also be able to give them the opportunity to perform with live musicians just like one would in India.
Students are taught how to teach and pass on this rich heritage to the newer generations in order to preserve the art form and also given teaching opportunities.
Offering Kathak dance as an outlet for creative self expression for all ages.

Vrindavan Academy introduces students to the history and evolution of Bharata Natyam. Its training highlights Bharata Natyam’s role as a communicative device recreating themes from Indian legend. The students are trained in Nritta (dance movement) and abhinaya (narrative expression) of Bharata Natyam. Simultaneously, the students take lessons on the cultural history of India, the form and function of Bharata Natyam, the language of gestures and movements, Indian mythology, and other classical dance forms.
